Concert at Bishop Stortford

The band will be presenting, with Enfield Songsters, its annual Spring Festival.
This event is to be held in Enfield Baptist Church, Cecil Rd, Enfield EN2 6TG and will start at 7:00pm

This year our guest soloist will be Matthew Stein a Cornet/Trumpet soloist from New Zealand who grew up playing cornet in the Wellington South Salvation Army corps. He progressed through the junior and senior bands as Principal Cornet and went on to become their bandmaster at age 19.
As a soloist, Matthew has performed with ensembles including, Royal New Zealand Navy Band, Salvation Army National Youth Band, and the National Secondary Schools Brass Band. He also spent four years as Principal Cornet of Wellington Brass Band, leading them to four consecutive national titles, one Australian national title, and an appearance at the British Open (2016). Matthew has worked with a wide range musical ensembles in New Zealand including the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Royal New Zealand Air Force Band, and the National Brass Band of New Zealand. In 2014, he was the Principal Trumpet of the National Youth Orchestra of New Zealand and in the same year won the New Zealand Cornet Championship.
Concert to celebrate the life of Bandmaster James Williams MBE

The band are pleased to announce a concert to celebrate the life of Bandmaster James Williams MBE who was
Promoted to Glory in June 2017. The date of this event is significant in that it would have been his 94th birthday.
With his military service and civic honour we are pleased to have use of the Guards Chapel for this event.
We are pleased that former Bandmaster Andrew Blyth will compere the programme which will feature soloists associated with Bandmaster James Williams and include music that were a feature of the bands programmes under his leadership.
Entry to the concert will be free of charge although there will be retiring collection in aid of The Salvation Army and Military charities.

This concert is being presented by the band led by Bandmaster Don Jenkins and guest conductor John Ward in aid of the Clarence Adoo Trust.
The band recently recorded the CD High Peak in support of Clarence Adoo. Copies of this will be available at £10 on the evening.

Our annual “at home” Band Sunday at Enfield Salvation Army, Churchbury Lane.
The meeting will be led by Commissioners Robert and Janine Donaldson who have recently been appointed to IHQ. The Commissioners originate from Wellington, New Zealand where the Commissioner Robert Donaldson was a keen bandsman.
125th Anniversary Pre Contest Festival

Our Annual Spring Festival returns to St Andrews Church, Plough Hill, Cuffley Herts EN6 4DR
The programme, which will start at 7:00pm, will also feature Enfield Songsters.
Our guest soloist is Tom Nielsen who in September 2014 won a place to study trumpet and Cornet with Andrew Mitchell at the Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama having started playing under the tutelage of his father Carl, 5 years earlier. He is currently a solo cornet player and soloist in the Croydon Citadel Salvation Army Band and has been featured regularly as a soloist in his own right with Salvation Army bands around the UK and in Europe.
Also in 2014, Tom attended the Salvation Army’s Territorial Youth Band course and a year later became and still remains, principal cornet of the band. In 2016 he attended his first course with the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain during which he qualified for the final of the Harry Mortimer solo competition and won the Philip McCann cornet award.
Tom is a Besson Junior Artist and plays a Besson Sovereign BE928GT cornet.
Away from music, he is an avid fan of James Bond and Star Wars films and a keen Newcastle United supporter.
Tickets are now available at £10 which will include light refreshments.
70th Pre Contest Festival

The band will be presenting its 70th annual Pre Contest Festival in St Pancras Church, Euston Road, London, NW1 2BA on Friday 7 October. The church is opposite and within easy walking distance of Euston station. Euston Square, St Pancras and Kings Cross stations are also nearby. Parking restrictions do apply in the area and should be taken into account if you are considering driving to this event.
The programme will start at 7:45pm.
We are pleased that Owen Farr (Tenor Horn) will be our guest soloist for this event.
Tickets are now available via this website priced at £10 each. Tickets are numbered but this is not a seat number. Payment is via a PayPal account and tickets can be printed at home and which you should bring with you to the concert.
Brian Turner CBE, chef/restaurateur will compere this years event.

Concert at Woodford

This concert, which is taking place in George Lane Baptist Church, South Woodford, E18 1LW, is being presented on behalf of Woodford Citadel and starts at 7:00pm.
They are raising funds for a school in Uganda with whom a member of their congregation has a connection.
Tickets, which will be available in due course, will cost £5.

The bands annual Spring Festival will be held at St Peters Church, Barnet Road, Arkley, Barnet EN5 3FJ.
The programme will feature our own soloists and include items by Enfield Citadel Songsters, led by Andrew Lofthouse.
Refreshments will be available during the interval.
There is no charge for entry but there will be a Retiring Collection for both Church and Salvation Army funds.

Open band rehearsal

The band will be holding an open rehearsal on Friday 5th February for former bandsmen or interested players who would like to come along listen or join in the rehearsal.
You will be aware that the bands repertoire ranges from pieces such as Ken Downie’s “In Perfect Peace” and “Purcell Variations” to Ray Steadman-Allen’s “In Quiet Pastures”, “The Lord is King!” and “On Ratcliff Highway”. The latter was recently used as a 1st Section testpiece. For those of you wishing to come and join in the rehearsal, which you are most welcome to, you will appreciate that a playing standard equivalent to ABRSM Grade7/8 would be helpful to ensure you get the most from the rehearsal.
Please let us know if you would if you intend to attend and which instrument you play, via the Contact Us page, so that we can ensure that we have sufficient chairs and music. We would be pleased to see all who would like to come along.
